Nelson Jimenez has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and is currently pursuing his master’s at Quinnipiac University. He is interested in interactive media and communications because most of his time in high school was spent on football. Having spent four years studying at Saint Peter’s Prep in New Jersey, football has been an important part of his life. Two years as a player and two years as a manager. Some of the best times of his life, especially after winning the state championship against current NFL player Kyle Monangai.
While he was manager, one of his jobs was setting up a camera in the end zone to help provide the coaches with film during the game. During practice, when the weather was right, they would also allow Nelson to fly their drone above practice. Working cameras and creating content has always been something that Nelson wanted to pursue. His sister really wanted him to pursue this because she felt he “knew how to get the angles.”
A good example of one of Nelson’s interactive media experiences was his time with the GSMC Sports Podcast. For one year, he livestreamed and recorded podcasts five times a week. He spent most of his time as the host of the basketball podcast before being moved up to the sports podcast, which allowed him to cover football and baseball. It was around this time that he started to learn the basics of video editing, seeing as he needed to separate the livestream into three or four separate episodes. Here is an example of one of his videos. Don’t make fun of Nelson’s hair; he went through a very dumb phase in his life and looked extremely ugly.

Recently, however, he has been getting experience in shooting highlights for his old high school football team, the Marauders. Being able to cover some of the best teams in his home state has been a fun and nostalgic experience.
